Rita and Chuck were great friends with Bob and Olga Grimes. Both families struggled after WW2 in setting up their homes and raising their children. The two families often used to go away on camping trips and get togethers. Terry and Ian were great mates. After Chuck passed, Rita kept the family together in raising 6 children. every Christmas she would pack the old Holden and off to the south or north coast for holidays.
Rita was a avid bookworm and in latter years suffered Macular degeneration but still kept going with failing eyesight. When I was away with the Navy in Papua, Pam would often visit Rita looking at the movie films I would send back in the winter. I very much appreciated the company that Rita and Pam shared. Even though we have moved away to Bribie Island we kept in touch with Rita and Lynn we were very saddened to hear of Rita’s passing and apologise that we could not come to the service. Please accept our condolences.

Rita was always ready with a smile when I’d meet her. Rita, Lynn, my dad Don and I would meet every Saturday morning for breakfast. Listening to Rita’s stories was the highlight of Don’s week. Lynn and I would go and do errands while they chatted, watching them laugh together was lovely. Don always said later “ she’s a very knowledgeable lady, had an interesting life”. We really missed our Saturdays date when COVID came. We went on other little adventures together too, and Don remembered them and often spoke of them fondly. Rita will be missed. Thanks for all the care you gave her Lynn, you are a wonderful daughter.
So sorry that I can’t be with you today but thinking of you. 💐❤️ Cathy.
