  2. We were so shocked to hear of Peter’s passing. The Midcoast community has lost a tireless advocate. Peter campaigned against Transgrid power lines, inequities with Midcoast Council, and the closure of Wingham Pool. Peters energy, enthusiasm and passion for championing a cause will remembered by many. Rest in peace Peter. Condolences to Helen and all the family.

  8. Peter was a legend. I met him 25 years ago. He made a huge impression on me for many reasons. I remember like it was yesterday when he invited us to a Chinese restaurant and started speaking to the waiter in Chinese. He impressed everyone around him. No matter what the matter was. Small or large. That was Peter. A giant among men. The time I spent with Peter and Helen was a wonderful time for me. Thank you for that. I believe that Peter is looking down on us today and is happy to see us all gathered together on his final journey to the Kingdom of Heaven. Peter, you may be gone, but your spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know you. Rest in peace, dear friend.

  11. My dear friend, Peter,
    Rest in peace.
You’ve suddenly gone and left us!
My thoughts are with Helen at this sad time.
I admired your resolve, research skills, determination, diligence and commitment to our community, among other things.
I enjoyed our banter when we agreed or not. It was tricky getting past discord with you but a challenge I’m fortunate to have experienced. You taught me much and fought the good fight with the courage of conviction.
Thanks for the memories ‘Fav Councillor’, our warm and fun expression that I’ll now wear as a badge of honour, you are and will be sadly missed.
You touched our lives and will remain affectionately in my mind and heart.

  12. We are still in shock and it’s impossible to verbalize how we feel and much much more so, even imagine how it would be for you. Peter was one of those very special men with integrity, intellectual depth, courage and innate qualities of leadership one is lucky to ever encounter in one’s lifetime. Our heartfelt thoughts are with you, Helen. Love, John and Stephanie

  13. The finger that points to the way need not, itself, be perfect. Thank you Peter for showing us a way to fight for good causes without the yoke of a loser mentality.

Perfection rests in peace. Rest in Peace PETER …..

  14. We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear of Peter’s passing. He was truly a larger-than-life figure—brilliant, cultured, and compassionate, with a remarkable sense of humour that brightened every room. His tireless dedication in retirement to standing up for others and holding powerful institutions to account was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Our thoughts are very much with Helen and the family at this incredibly difficult time.

  16. I am going to miss you Peter….
A very intelligent man, with a great heart, and a true desire to get involved, and help others.
I will always be grateful for your support and care through times that were difficult.
    Lots of fun times after.
    Respect….

  17. There were not that many of us lads of a Saturday afternoon after at Homebush Boys High School back in the early eighties where Peter introduced us to the great game of Volleyball. Peter went to the trouble of showing us colour video footage on a projector in the gym of world class players and we all sat on the floor mesmerised. He lit the flame of inspiration and some Vostok players went on to represent NSW and even Australia. I never got the chance to say thank you to Peter for what he did for a core group of Vostok players.

Thank you Peter, may you rest in eternal peace.

  18. Peter’s embrace of the Australian sports culture and his talent as an athlete, coach, mentor and sports visionary set a foundation for a remarkable life.

Peter was an inquisitive and ambitious bloke with a cheeky mischievous grin. An outstanding communicator, a larger than life character, who confidently stepped forward, boldly prepared to present others with an alternative view of the world. Peter loved life, and navigatd it with a confidence, determination and vigor that was hard to match.

A true White Knight that advocated for his community and supported those in challenging situations. An intelligent and kind spirit with a boundless heart who saw the potential in others that they often missed themselves. A cherished friend that will be sorely missed.

    Rest in peace Peter.

    Peter, Bopha and Family
