David worked for us at Hoxton park Aero centre( Hpac) as one of a group of young instructors accumulating hours to try for an airline job. He was always cheerful good natured and helpful and there was no doubt he was going places( literally!) while Rod is no longer with us I know he would want me to express our sincere condolences to David’s family at this very very sad time. RIP David

We have lost a truly wonderful man, a devoted husband to my dear friend, a loving father, a cherished brother and an inspiring Captain. His zest for life was truly contagious, and his generosity knew no bounds.

The world has lost a true gentleman, dedicated family man and a person who gave back so much to make those less fortunate in times of trauma, loss and suffering, find some kindness, care and support. David really was one of the good ones always genuinely interested in others within his presence and through his charitable works with Little Wings … he will be so greatly missed by so many … thank you for your company and conversations over the years when ever family met … fly high … fly free David … be at peace.

David was a father of one of my best friends, and more importantly a friend of mine and many others.
He always was nice, kind, loving and genuine. Letting me into his home always with a smile on his face, I was always so grateful he let me be apart of his life.
Ryan was always speaking so highly of his father, and i can definitely see where he gets his morals and values from.

David was an amazing friend to us and more recently supported us through our own difficult times. We enjoyed our catch ups & coffee and he told some great stories with so much passion. We always had so many laughs and we thought of him as one of our favourite people on this earth. It is so hard to believe that we will not get to see that amazing smile. We know he is smiling down upon all of us and watching over his beautiful family. God Bless you David and God look after Georgette, Nathan & Ryan. You will be truly missed!!! Rest in Peace brother….

I remember the day David was bone when we were informed that David’s mum, Laura, had a baby boy who weighed over 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms). We watched him grow into the man you know and love.
He was energetic and brought a lot of joy to those around him. Some of my most treasured memories are those of the time spent with him and his family at Coppadana on the central coast. As a youngster, going fishing was a high light. He had a helpful nature, always happy to help bait a line or scale a fish. David and his brother, George, would contribute to the washing up and clearing the table before taking themselves off to catch some waves. We wouldn’t see them again until sunset.
I will be forever grateful for having David and his family in my life. He will be sadly missed and never forgotten. Rest in peace with your mum and dad, David

David was a great man, he was a devoted father to one of my closest friends and worked hard to provide a life for his family. He opened his home to me and the rest of Ryan’s friends and made us all feel like part of the family. He always made an effort to get to know us on a personal level and was genuinely interested in how we were. No matter how busy he was, David would always find the time to talk to us, give us advice and tell us some stories. It didn’t matter whether it was your first time meeting David or whether you had just dropped by for a second, he’d always invite you to dinner or to watch the footy.
Every time I saw David he had a smile on his face and every time I left I had a smile on mine too.
Rest in peace David, you will be truly missed by so many.

What a loss we all suffer with David suddenly gone. But what an honour and genuine pleasure to have known him. David was a rare and wonderful mix of fun and lighthearted, yet extraordinarily capable and responsible when he needed to be. We could sit and enjoy a meal, wine and many, many laughs – and at the same time we would have trusted him with our safety and our lives in a heartbeat. David was a good man, in every sense of the word.
He was also an amazing father, husband and friend. He loved his family above everything else, and I know he would be so proud of how his boys have rallied around their mum at this time. David will never be gone while ever his wonderful sons Nathan and Ryan live on. ♥️♥️♥️

I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of David. I first met David in 1989 when I had the privilege of training him for his Flight Instructor Rating at Bankstown Airport. David stood out — not just for his skill and professionalism, but for his kindness, humility and genuine love of flying. He was the sort of person I remembered fondly.
David went on to carve out an impressive career overseas, and it was a wonderful surprise when our paths crossed again in 2023 on the Boeing 737 intake course at REX Airlines. After more than three decades, David was exactly the same warm, steady, sincere person I had known all those years ago. We shared stories, laughs, and memories from that first chapter, and I’m grateful we had that time together.
To David’s family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. He touched many lives through his friendship, his generosity, and his lifelong dedication to aviation. I will always remember him with great respect and affection. Rest in Peace David.

No words can express how sorry and saddened I was to hear the news of David’s passing. I have the great pleasure of being very close friends with Ryan, one of his children who he loved for and cared for very deeply. He was kind, understanding, and cared for everyone like they were his own. I can speak for many in saying that he was like a second parent to many of Ryan’s friends, always inviting us into his home with open arms, and his infectious smile. He genuinely cared for all of those that he came across, and made an effort to get to know people on a personal level. His qualities and attributes were an inspiration to everyone that knew him, I’m very sure. I offer my deepest condolences. The world has lost a truly great man.
My team and I are the airworthiness managers for the jet David flew and had been in touch with David almost daily since he started flying this plane. His dedication to learning the jet and the operation and wanting to understand every detail was really refreshing and we loved his enthusiasm and regular positive messages after each flight. It was such a shock to learn of his final hours and it is clear how he was dearly loved as a colleague, friend and family man. We will all miss Dave and I want to offer my sincere condolences to his family. Great pilots and friends are hard to find but dads and soulmates are irreplaceable, and with love, I wish the very best for his wife and boys. ❤️
Our family has known David, George and their parents for many years.We remember that when David was born his parents were elated.As a child David was always a lively and adventurous soul.When his family returned from Italy after living abroad-David’s passion for flying began.He would often say to his Mum he would learn to fly and take her to visit Italy.But before he got his license-he was a regular mischievous young boy.
His family have always been generous and that has never changed over the years.
Our families would often meet up and there would be much laughing. The “oldies” playing cards and my brothers and David having rumbles in the lounge room at our place, or if at their place snooker or playing tennis video games.
We attended Copa-swimming, catching crabs, watching David and George surfing. Often my brothers and David were often mistaken as brothers-bantering and doing all the “dumb things.”Once they had the “great idea” to dig the deepest hole in the sand (way over their heads) and jump over it. But there was a miscalculation-one of the brothers missed the jump, fell in and the sand collapsed on him.It was both the scariest and thankfully the happiest time. David was instrumental in getting help and some how get word back for the “oldies” not to come to the beach. How the Mums not know what was going on was miraculous.
Our childhood/teenage memories with David are some of our favourite and vivid times.He took us on our first flight whilst still on his “Ps”. He played hockey, joined the 6am train rides to do the City2Surf, whilst in winter on cold Sunday mornings our oldest brother would pick him up and he played touch footy at Parra Marist in a team called -The Brothers!
His infectious energy and good natured fun will never leave us. David you’re the Miracle-thanks for sharing your time with us.
To Georgette, Nathan,Ryan and George and Family we hope you take comfort in knowing that only the special ones leave us prematurely. Have faith that God will protect and give you strength. Love Family Bonora

We don’t have the words to express our sorrow at this time. David and his family were close family friends. Even though it was just a short 3 minute drive to go to their home, we couldn’t get their quick enough, knowing that David and George were there. Some of my best childhood and teenage experiences involved David entertaining my brother and I. Being a few years older, he became someone I looked up to, and because of his genuine kindness and strong values, it felt only natural to ask him to be my sponsor for my confirmation. Although we have not seen much of each other lately, we always recount stories involving the joy that David. brought to our lives. A special human, gone too soon, but always in our hearts. David and I went to primary school and high school together. We were great childhood friends and lived around the corner from each other. His parents were always beautiful and welcoming with his dad always having a smile on his face, and his beautiful mum would make us pasta after school and bring a bowl down each to David, myself, and other school mates that were over playing pool downstairs. We did many city-to-surf runs together getting up early and catching a train to be right at the starting line. David got me into playing hockey and we won the U17 Grand Final. A few us school mates all stayed at Copacabana having a great time. David got me into surfing as well and we would catch an early train to Bondi and other beaches where David seemed to always catch the great waves whilst I struggled just to paddle out. He was a great surfer. Myself and other school friends have been reminiscing about all the great times we had together growing up with David. He was popular at school, greatly admired and loved. I love his family and remember everything like it was yesterday. I’m totally devastated at the loss of my great mate who I have always loved dearly. From all your school friends and myself “We love you David and always will”. I love you David. I’m so sorry. I will always pray and talk to you. You will be in my thoughts and prayers forever. David’s life was led by his generosity, authenticity, passion, and love for his family and friends.
We’ll miss his genuine and infectious smile, the way he made us all feel like the most important people in the room, and the way he openly shared his wisdom, wit and talents with everyone he met.
Words can’t express how much David will be missed by us all. He played a pivotal role in our childhood and continued to be a role model and source of inspiration well into our adulthood.
The world has lost a beautiful soul, but his spirit will live on in his amazing wife, Georgette, and two incredible sons, Ryan and Nathan. In our minds we will always see David happy, healthy, and smiling down at us all.

It is with great sadness that we have learned of David’s passing. From our days at Pelair to our Hong Kong existence David will always stay in my mind as one of the most professional pilots the industry has seen and always a pleasure to fly with. Although we didn’t see much of each other in Hong Kong we do recall a very long lunch at your home in Discovery Bay followed by a very seedy trip back to the Island on the ferry. That day lives large in our memories.

My Condolences to Georgette and boys. I worked with ‘Pags’ at DragonAir for many years – and he was always a great guy to share time and laughs with. He was much respected for his piloting ability, and supported for his mates.

I had the privilege of working with David in my position as a flight nurse. On top of being one of the greatest pilot I ever worked with , he was an amazing real gentleman with the most caring nature . He had this “power ” to lift anyone spirits in an instant. Behind that beautiful genuine smile , he always found comforting words and the best jokes to ease more challenging situations in our daily work .There was never a dull moment when he was around the office or flying.
My thoughts are with his beautiful wife Georgette, his sons , family and friends

The first time I met David was when he was six months old. He visited my family in New Zealand with Zio Giulio, Zia Laura and George. Zio Giulio was my mum’s younger brother. Over the many years ahead, both families visited each other often, including Italy and attended milestone events. Although David is my first cousin, he was like a brother to me.
David always called me big sis, and I loved that. He wasn’t good at remembering birthdays, even though his birthday was close to mine, he always blamed our postman for the missing mail! He had a good sense of humour, and a real live wire especially in his younger days.
David loved his family more than anything and was so proud of Georgette, Nathan and Ryan. We all know his passion for flying, travelling and enjoying cooking and eating different foods. At four he was so determined that he was going to fly jumbos. He achieved a great deal in his 56 years of life and was so generous with his voluntary time and right up to the end of his life being an organ donor.
We always loved catching up. We last saw each other in Melbourne in December 2024 when David was on one of his charter flights. Whenever we met up, we always just carried on where we left off. We loved remembering old memories of being together especially when we were younger, as our parents were very close. He loved having us on board, showing us his plane that day.
I will miss everything about David. His caring personality and lovely smile. His pride in our daughters Emma and Julia and me. His ability to make everyone feel important, listened to, and loved. David loved and lived life to the full and has been taken from us all far too soon. Our memories and love of David will stay in our hearts forever. This time he has flown higher above all the clouds to be with his other departed loved ones.
RIP David, we love you so much.
We are all shocked & saddened to just hear the terrible news of David’s sudden passing. He was one of our dear family friends, spending many happy & memorable times at each others homes during our childhood, weekends away with his parents, his brother, George at Copacabana (Central Coast). He was kind hearted, caring & always happy. Also one of the 1st people to send us his condolences when we lost our dad in mid October. We will miss you, treasure our memories of you & were blessed to have known you.

David formerly at Navair/Hoxton Park. I had the privilege of flyin with David for a few years while he was at Navair, then Hoxton Paek Aerocentre. He was one of the kindest and considerate people I kniow, very gentle and always encouraging. I still remember hios ambition to eventually end up in an airline. What a loss!! My heartfelt condolences go to his wife and sons.
